Old worn out pastures need renewal. You must reseed! Reseeding is the best investment
you can make.
Benefits are well proven:
Improved yield of grass
Increased growth in both spring and autumn
Higher quality grass and silage
Faster re-growth
Higher protein milk
Lower costs of production
More money in your pocket
The rewards from reseeding are very significant and reseeding should be carried out on a
regular basis. To neglect reseeding can prove a lot more costly than the cost of reseeding.
Teagasc Bred Varieties Best
Newer varieties of ryegrass with increased yield, extended season growth and better
digestibility are giving a better economic response from reseeding.
Millennium: The new Teagasc-bred late perennial ryegrass is a typical example of
a grass with all of the above characteristics. It rates very highly on the recommended
list. Magician and Cashel are two new varieties from Teagasc which are giving very
good performances.
Newer varieties of clover from Teagasc are giving much higher yields than older varieties. They can also withstand more artificial nitrogen especially early in the season.
Avoca: White clover rates very well for yield and has a good
tolerance to Nitrogen.
