The sugar beet crop is one of the most valuable crops for the tillage
farmer. It is grown on contract and generally provides a good return per
acre to the grower. It is also a good break crop in the cereal rotation.
The recent publication of a Recommended List of Sugar Beet Varieties by the
Department of Agriculture provides very valuable information to sugar beet
growers. It enables them to choose the varieties which they wish to grow
based on financial income compared to other varieties on the list.
Atlantis is a variety which rates
highly on the Recommended list. It combines high grower income with high sugar. Growers
who have tried this variety have been very pleased with its performance.
